Blues with a side of shrimp at Clearwater’s Sea-Blues Festival

There was plenty of seafood and plenty of blues at Clearwater’s 10th Annual Sea-Blues Festival this weekend.  Seafood stands encircled Coachman Park, selling fried seafood in just about every form imaginable, including: fried shrimp, coconut shrimp, crab cakes, fish and chips, fried grouper sandwiches, conch fritters, fried clam strips, and fried snapper tacos. If you weren’t in the mood for something fried, you could order crabby mac & cheese, shrimp & grits, lobster bisque, conch chowder, lobster sliders, or paella.

Meanwhile, blues bands hit the stage at a rate of 6 bands a day.  Saturday night, St. Paul & The Broken Bones played a great, highly energetic set.  The were followed by headliners, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, who kept the energy and great blues music going through the night.

It’s not too late to go to the Sea-Blues festival – it runs from 12-9 pm today.  The headliner, Beth Hart, plays at 7:30 pm in Coachman Park.
