My great Happy Hour quest continued this week with a trip to Cooters on the beach. Cooters Restaurant & Bar has been serving seafood and steaks on Clearwater Beach for over 20 years. They don’t have the best view of the beach, but their good food, weekly specials, and Happy Hour continue to rake in the locals.
Cooters looks like someone threw a Florida beach house, a roadhouse, a dive bar, and a family restaurant in a blender and hit pulse. But if you are looking for a place to have cheap beer, some wings, and peel & eat shrimp, this is your kind of place.
Every day of the week, from 3-6 pm, you can get great Happy Hour prices on Bud, Bud Light, and Miller Light drafts; well drinks & house wine; raw oysters; wings; and chilled peel & eat shrimp. I had a Miller Light for $1.50 with five $0.65 wings and five $0.65 shrimp. Total cost: $8 plus tax and tip.
We were happy with all the food here, but my absolute favorite were the wings. I loved the perfectly crisp and crunchy light breading, and the sauce was the perfect balance of sweet, salty, and spicy. These were every bit as good as wings I’ve had in Buffalo, NY, and in some cases better. We ordered some blue cheese on the side, but I preferred these wings without it.
I have yet to decide if it’s the best Happy Hour on Clearwater beach, but it’s pretty damn good. I still have a few other Happy Hours on the beach to check out, including the Brown Boxer, Marina Cantina, and Clear Sky Happy Hours. What’s your favorite Happy Hour on Clearwater Beach? Don’t forgot to give me your Happy Hour recommendations by May 11, 2017 if you want it included in the Tampa Bay Happy Hour index. Join the fun on Twitter #HappyHourTampaBay
