This year marks the 25th Anniversary of publication of the Dr. Seuss classic, Oh the Places You’ll Go! In celebration, his estate approved the travelling “Oh, the Places You’ll Go! 25th Anniversary Gallery Exhibition.” From September 12th through September 26th, 2015, Syd Entel Galleries & Susan Benjamin Glass in Safety Harbor, FL is hosting the exhibit. That means last night was opening night, and I was there to look at the artwork, take some photographs, and hear Seussologist Jeff Schuffman’s presentation.
Oh the Places You’ll Go! was the last Dr. Seuss book published during his lifetime, and as it turns out, that was how he intended it. Oh the Places You’ll Go was meant to be about Seuss’s life journey. Since then, it has become a favorite gift at graduation parties. This seems fitting, since Seuss first encountered the expression, “Oh the places you’ll go,” while he was a student at Dartmouth College in the 1920’s. Here it was a form of greeting often accompanied by a hand shake and the response, “Oh, the people you’ll meet.”
