Capturing St. Pete’s Artistic Side: a photoessay

Art is everywhere in St Petersburg, FL (aka St Pete). It’s in the museums and galleries, painted on the sides of the buildings, and drawn upon the sidewalks. With 5 unique arts districts, 3 mainstream art museums*, over 50 independent galleries, and 50+ murals, St. Petersburg, Florida is a first-rate arts destination. In September 2015, the city hosted two new arts festivals – the St. Petersburg Mural Festival (SHINE) and the St. Petersburg festival of the arts & culture (SPF) – with the goal of cementing St. Petersburg as one of the nation’s leading art destinations. 2016 saw the expansion of SPF to a month-long festival of the arts with 57 events spanning 149 venues. One hot September day during SPF, I tried to soak in as much of the St. Petersburg arts scene as I could. The combination of natural and man-made beauty was stunning.
