Welcome to Florida Illustrated, the web home of Jen Ring, freelance writer & photographer.

When I first started Florida Illustrated in July 2015, the idea was to create an image-centric blog about Florida.

I started attending more events in my Tampa Bay community, aiming my camera at the people and places that inspired me, and sharing their pictures with anyone and everyone who seemed interested.  As a result, Florida Illustrated has become a place to enjoy pictures of Florida and to learn about current events in the Tampa Bay area, with an emphasis on art, travel, festivals, and food.

In 2017, I branched out a little and started contributing both articles and photographs to the Alt weekly, Creative Loafing Tampa, focusing on local art and entertainment.

Serving the Tampa Bay area as both a writer and a photographer continues to be one of the greatest joys of my life. With any luck, I’ll continue to do this for years to come.

But enough about me, let’s talk about what Florida Illustrated has to offer. In short, it’s all about entertainment. If you’re looking for things to do in Florida, you’re in the right place. Below is a list of some of my favorite places and events in Florida.
